Why did Kim Jong-il meet President Hu Jintao and Vice President Xi Jinping in Changchun, China?

The alleged meeting took place in a hotel in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province, and Hu Jintao flew to greet Kim. In addition to President Hu, the Vice President Xi Jinping, announced to take over as China's next leader in 2012, also went to Jilin, which borders North Korea, to meet Kim. No one outside the tight circles of insiders in Beijing and Pyongyang really knows. Perhaps something extraordinary occurred in the North. Or perhaps to Kim Jong il.
